four happy things on friday

One of my resolutions for this year was to be more intentional - with my relationships, with my time and with my focus. In an effort to continue this, I will post four photos from my week of things or moments that have made me happy. I feel like I sometimes miss out on joy just because I'm not looking. Here's to changing that!

looking up, sourcing vintage sheets for the swap, baking bread and getting lovely hanky mail from renee.

Feel free to join in! Just leave a comment and I will pop over to see your happy things this friday...

slowing down...

i have been working like a crazy lady lately and it doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon. one of the things i am missing is taking the time to enjoy breakfast. most days, it is eaten on the run, if at all. i am living vicariously through this gorgeous blog all about breakfast...

...makes me want to slow down.

some sheet swap questions...

i have had a few questions about the Vintage Sheet FQ swap that i thought i should probably answer and clear up any confusion...

to add this swap as a button. all you need to do is save the image in this post and then click on the 'design' tab on your dashboard. you should come to a page that shows your blog layout. then you need to click on the tab that says 'add a gadget'. for me it is on the right hand side.. you should then get a new window pop up with a whole list of options that you can add to your blog. you want to click on the 'picture' option. You will then be asked to upload your image and there is an option there that you can include a link. just pop in the link to this post and you should be done! good luck :) let me know if you are still having trouble!

cotton vs. cotton blend sheets. both are okay. In my original post i said that only 100% cotton sheets would be accepted. after chatting to some people about this and doing some of my own research i have decided that both are fine. sheets that are clearly NOT cotton blend will not be accepted but if you can't tell the difference then they should be fine! (please dont send any flannelette sheet squares - even though they are cotton)

if you have signed up you should be receiving an email sometime this week with more details!

have a fabulous day :) Kel x

vintage sheets

here are just a few of the ever-so-lovely vintage sheet fat quarters that I received in the last swap (or found at the local oppies). I now realise that all of these examples are floral but your vintage sheets dont necessarily have to be so.

If you dont have any vintage sheets lying around your house then just scout around some of your local oppies and you should be able to pick some up for a few dollars. The great thing about finding just ONE sheet is that you could probably cut it up into 8-10 fat quarters and receive 8-10 brand new (to you) vintage sheet FQs!

There are already 10 people signed up in less than 24 hours which is very exciting! I cant wait to visit your blogs and 'meet' you all :)!

Here are some links that you may find helpful.

a vintage sheet FQ swap... CLOSED

Last year I participated in the most wonderful vintage sheet FQ swap. I cut up some lovely sheets into fat quarters, popped them in the mail and a few weeks later I unwrapped 50+ new to me squares of vintage sheets and fabrics. To say it gave my fabric stash a boost is an understatement! This influx inspired me to sew, make and create once again.

As the months have worn on, my pile of vintage goodness has slowly diminished. I have been searching online for a vintage sheet or fabric swap for a while now with no luck. There are plenty of vintage sheet FQ swaps for U.S residents only but nothing for Australia.

So... I have decided to take the leap and host my first swap! Without further ado...

What you need to do... if you are keen to be involved in this swap then just leave a comment on this post indicating your interest with your EMAIL ADDRESS! Alternatively, you can email me at kellie_fm (at) hotmail (dot) com and let me know that way.

As people sign up for the swap I will send out all the necessary information via email to participants.

The time frame... Please have your vintage sheets washed, cut into FQ's and posted no later than the 22nd of April. This should give you plenty of time to scout your local oppies for plenty of sheets to cut and swap. I will have them back in the post for you by the 3rd of May and you should receive your new stash of vintage fabric sometime in the next week.

Sign ups... I am happy to take sign ups until the 15th of April, as long as you have your FQ's in the mail by the cut off date.

Spread the word... the more people we have involved in this, the more variety you will receive in your vintage FQ's. Feel free to blog about this and save the above image to use as a button for this swap... just make sure you are linking back to this post.

How the swap will work... it is up to you how many fat quarters you want to contribute to the swap. The number of FQ's you send to me will be the number that you receive back. THEN... you will need to place your washed, cut up sheets into a pre-paid parcel post satchel (available at the post office in 500g and 3kg varietys). You should be able to fit about 15 FQs in a 500g satchel and 50+ in the 3kg satchel. you MUST also include a self-addresses pre-paid post satchel in your parcel to me for me to mail your new vintage loveliness to you.

A few more things...
*sheets must be washed prior to being sent
*this swap is for AUSTRALIAN residents only (sorry to my other readers - it is just easier for postage)
*your fat quarters should measure approx 50cm x 56cm
*ensure your fat quarters are free from marks, rips and stains. only send sheets that you would want to receive (i reserve the right to return to you any sheets you send which do not meet this quality standard)
*only COTTON or COTTON BLEND sheets please (nothing flannelette or polyester - thanks!)
*it is more than okay for you to send multiple fat quarters from the one sheet!!
*please do not send any sheets with cartoon characters, kids sheets or any solid colours.

Over the next few days I will be posting some examples of the AWESOME vintage sheet FQ's i received in the last swap so you have an idea of what to be looking for!

I will be updating all the swap participants through email and through this blog so stay tuned! i am so excited for this... I do hope that you will join me!

woohoo! KEL xx
