hi.

it was recently brought to my attention that my blog has surprisingly few photos of me. this is not intentional... i guess i figure that op shops, a good book and vintage florals are more interesting than the everyday crazy that my life is made up of (and the fact that i always look horrible in photos)!

my favourite blogs are the ones where you can really get to know the person behind the blog and one of the best things that has come out of blogging has been the awesome people i have met and the sneak peeks into their lives...

so... in the spirit of new beginnings here are a few random facts about me and my world :)

*i have only had one panadol in the last 6 years! it's one of my completely stubborn and often irrational quirks where i refuse to take any painkillers but i will happily drink two cups of coffee a day (although i am trying to stop this coffee habit)

*i like words more than numbers (unless they are of the fill a bag for ONE dollar kind! haha!).

*i will almost always pull a face in photos (as evidenced by the top photo.. haha)! i justify this by arguing that i would rather look bad on purpose than try to look nice and still end up looking like some sort of stoned weirdo (ahem... like the gorgeous lady on the left of the top photo - love you mum)!

*i love feet. love them.

*i often wish that i was one of those strong, silent, graceful ladylike types. instead i am loud and obnoxious and burp really loudly!

*i have watched every episode of 'friends' at least 6 times each! season 5 is the best :)

*i feel really sad and personally insulted when i hear people say that they hate reading

*i swing wildly between wanting to cut my hair really short into a funky little pixie crop and dogged persistence to keep growing it (i have been growing it for the past 6 years... not that you would really be able to tell... haha)!

*i have an excessive amount of vintage baby clothes for someone who does not have any babies on the horizion! it often crosses my mind that i might be jinxing myself and the assumptions i make about the future status of my womb will result with an empty one!

*if i was going to be a character in a book i would want to be alice or lucy pevensie

just a (very late) minute in... august

watching... big bang theory. love it! im waiting on season three to arrive in my mailbox :)

eating... homemade food. after so long without being able to cook in my own kitchen im really enjoying simple, clean homemade meals.

reading... the vampire academy series. its not life-changing but it is entertaining.

listening... to what people say. im really trying to listen more instead of just steamrolling people with my own advice and stories. being a good listener is hard and it takes practice - im slowly getting better!

excited about... school holidays coming up in less than a month. AND mockingjay coming out tomorrow!!!! woohoo!!

sorry about my lack of posts and comments on your lovely blogs over the past week. im really struggling to keep up to date with this wonderful blogging land without internet at home. boo!

i got a degree!!

last thursday i found myself walking across a stage, doffing my hat and receiving a degree. it only took me seven years, multiple breakdowns and a LOT of peppermint chocolate. i am proud of me.

there isnt really any nice photos of me from the actual ceremony dressed in my finery so i thought i would share the pictures of some of the beautiful flowers and gifts i received.

graduating is fun (and i got the day off work... woohoo)!!

p.s - one more thing that i can cross off my 101 things in 1001 days list (number 85)!

work reflections and some vintage finds

i started full time work this week and it is exhausting! i know that most of you will probably say something along the lines of 'welcome to the real world' (this is the standard response from my family - haha) - but im finding it really hard to get into a rhythm. this is the most structured my days have been in many years (between an ever changing uni timetable and shift work) and i really thought that i would thrive with more structure to my days and my life. but i find myself really missing the simple things - like a morning walk and coffee, writing mail and op shopping. my life revolves around work which is completely opposite to the life i really want. i know that as i settle into work i will be able to balance myself better and find some more time for the things i love... but until then are there any tips you have for an ex uni student who is wishing for her old life?

i managed to just make it down to my local op shop this afternoon and picked up some fabulous sheets and a few plates... here is the (much smaller than usual) weekly haul...

just a minute in... july

so i saw this rad idea over here and thought that i would give it a go for june... but as you can see i am a bit late so im trying to get in early for july :)

watching... not a lot to be honest. all the shows i love are on their super long break from t.v at the moment. however, my dad is visiting from china next weekend and he will being with him a plethora of dvds, including season five of criminal minds and the latest greys anatomy! cant wait!

eating... last night i ate turkish food! it is my firm belief that the best food in the world is from turkey. and their apple tea is super yummo!

reading... the short second life of bree tanner. it is taking me surprisingly long to get through. i plan to review it on this blog next week sometime... stay tuned!

listening... to my husband playing the playstation. grr. (i guess its a good trade off for spending so much time on the computer - haha)

wanting... a vintage bike and some brown vintage ankle boots... yes please!

excited about... starting work. surviving work. getting paid for work. woohoo!

life is good

i was lucky anough to be awarded by the lovely Allana over at High Maintenance Hippy! She also came up with some fabulous questions to answer that really got me thinking. it is really cool to learn more about the ladies behind the blogs!

1. Would you rather eat out or cook at home?

at the moment my husband and i are living at home with my mum (eek) and i am really looking forward to getting into our own place and having home cooked dinners out on the deck. or take away on our deck. anything in our own space really... ha!

a beautiful black labrador puppy...

YES!! just the one puppy for now. but i cant wait to move into our house and get some chickens... :)

for me, this is the hardest question to answer! i have so many places that are on my 'go to' list... my ultimate destination changes everyday. today it would probably be to tour around turkey and spend some time floating off the coast in one of these.

6. If you could ask one question of God what would it be?

i would just say THANKS!

7. Would you rather be warm or cold?

cold... for sure! im a melbourne girl at heart and really struggle with the hot, humid brisbane summers.

8. What is your all time favourite movie?

its got to be beauty and the beast... an oldie but a goodie!! im also loving adam and 500 days of summer at the moment.

10. What would you say to teenage you?
-your bother and sister will end up being your best friends
