a garden of goodies

ever since i have lived out of home i have wanted a vegie garden. not just a few pots with some herbs in them but an honest, big, vegie producing garden. the other weekend this happened :)!! i have been so excited to post about this but i wanted to make sure that the seeds i had planted would actually grow and this morning i saw the beginning shoots of the cucumber, corn and carrot plants. i think that i was unnaturally excited about this but i dont care. it made my day to see little bits of green poking through all that brown...

we have four garden beds with pumpkin, lettuce, beans, zucchini, rockmelon, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, cucumber and corn. and i planted some sunflowers just to see if they would grow. its all a bit of an experiment at this stage but i cant wait to (hopefully) eat the yummy organic results. hooray!

i will keep you posted on the progress...

my clever husband made me a compost bin too :) isnt he rad!

a suitcase rummage

yesterday mali and i bundled up three suitcases of vintage goodies and headed off to the suitcase rummage markets in the city! these markets are on once a month but yesterday was the first time we have had a stall there. it is something we have been planning on doing for a while but we have had other things on or have just missed on registration! it was such a fun day and we will definately head back there with more op shop treasures :)

we sold a lot. met some cool people (like the ever so lovely laura). got a pretty dress. sat in the sunshine. drank coffee. it was lovely.

here are some pictures from our little stall of lovely...

just a minute in... october

watching... tv on dvd. i seem to recycle the same series (what is the plural of this word? serieses? seriei? series? haha... anyways...) over and over. its grey's anatomy, criminal minds or how i met your mother.

eating... what is in the cupboard. i made a deal with myself that i would try to use what i have in the cupboard over the past fortnight rather than ducking up to the shops everyday to buy something for dinner. i have about 10 tins of lentils begging to be used! any ideas?

listening to... the air conditioner - it's that hot!

excited about... an upcoming overseas trip! (more about this later)

i went to the beach

i spent the last few days of school holidays camping on fraser island with some of my very favourite people. it was fabulous. we spent our days swimming, reading, walking, napping and playing games. exactly the way a holiday should be.
p.s - i promise to be a better blogger :)

DIY gift tags

a big hello and welcome to all my new readers!! just a reminder that the giveaway will be ending at midnight tonight!!! a winner will be drawn and posted tomorrow so stay tuned!!

*************

last weekend i was lining some drawers with this awesome paper i found at the op shop (3m for $1 - woohoo). i had some scraps left over and it was way too pretty to throw away so i turned it into some pretty gift tags.

it was super easy - all you need to do is cut to the size you want, round the corners with a punch or scissors, glue the card and paper together, punch a hole in the top and thread some twine through. and you are ready to go!

p.s - i had my first ever migrane on the weekend - i did not care for it! any tips for how to cope if it happens again??

my mailbox was a very happy place on tuesday! the super rad Jes sent me a little pacel for my birthday complete with a handmade card, some tea and this lovely heart garland :) i have hung it up in my sewing room (this is the only room that is semi-unpacked at this stage - priorities much? haha)! Jes and i have some mutual friends and at the moment she is living and teaching with her new hubby out in the WA desert. we are both in a wedding together in a couple of weeks time so it will be lovely to catch up with her :) pop on over and say hi at her lovely blog!!

i also got a swap parcel from pip as part of gracie's 'just because you're lovely' swap. there were some lovely vintage fabrics and scarves and some seeds to i can get started on my vegie garden!!! woohoo! she also included some jewellery that she made herself. pip is about to open up an etsy store in the next few days so stay tuned over at her blog. to see what i sent her have a look over here...
